Game Tours

1) Spring hunt
(form the 25th of April till the 10th of May)
Spring game tour for wood grouse and black cock shooting.
From 2 to 7 persons are desirable in each group.
The tour lasts for 5 ... 7 days.
The shooting of males of wood grouse and black cock is carried out at the birds display ground. A rifle of 12th or 16th calibre is necessary.
It is best to wear warm but not heavy clothes of khaki colour. You are supposed to wear high rubber boots over thick wool socks because the birds mating places are located at the moss marshes as a rule. Head-cloth must not cover ears not to prevent to hear the wood grouse's song. It would not be bad to wear wool gloves not preventing to shoot. While hunting black cock the clothes must be warmer as the hunter is to sit still during 30 or even 90 minutes at the possible temperature about 0C.
The organisation of the hunt. The shooting is successful early in the morning. Accompanied by the huntsman hunter is brought to the birds' display ground, the night before. In the case the hunter wishes he is offered to walk for an hour before the sunset to the place to listen the males flying. Otherwise he spends the night sitting at the fire. Depending on the weather the hunter walks to the place at the distance within hearing male's song. Then the hunter is able to sneak to the bird and shoot it himself or huntsman brings him to a distance within gunshot. When the trophy is got the hunter noiselessly leaves the territory not to frighten the birds. If he wounded and lost his trophy the hunter has the possibility to shoot another bird in a case there are plenty of them. You have to pay for wounded bird as for a trophy, the similar payment is set for three misses after being brought within a shotgun for three times. The hunter must be instructed beforehand and in case he has no experience in such type of game he will be trained listening to record of wood grouse's song. Traditional hunt for black cock is organised directly from the shelter of branches located at the birds' mating place, when the hunter is being brought here as early as 3 to 4 o clock in the morning. When 3 or more birds have arrived it's time to fire. You can enjoy yourself looking at the birds but not more than for 5 ... 10 min. It is necessary to sit still with your gun pretty ready to fire. Such kinds of game as following are available.
Hunt for drakes with stuffed or tame duck.

To beckon is the best when drake is flying at a distance over 300 m because drake is able to hear falsity otherwise. Killed birds are gathered after the end of the game unless they are not carrying away with flow, as new coming drakes are not afraid of floating dead birds.
Hunt for woodcock during the evening flight.
You are proposed to wear warm but not heavy clothes of khaki colour. It is the best to wear rubber boots over thick wool socks. The head-dress must not cover ears not to prevent to hear the bird approaching and prepare to fire. The hunt is carried out at the evening. The hunter is brought an for hour before sunset to the edge of forest, forest road or cutting. As a rule woodcock begins to fly in 10 ... 15 min after sunset.
